National Black Business Month | Mike Lindsey

Mike Lindsey

Tell us a little about yourself.
Lindsey Food Group started in November 2020 with Lillie Pearl and has grown to 9 restaurants in less than 3 years. Here are the other restaurants in our group: Buttermilk and Honey, Jubilee, ML Steak, Rams House, Frostings Bake Shop, Red Bird Social and Farm & Oak.

How do you think the increased visibility of black entrepreneurs can inspire future generations?
HUGE!!! We are building this empire for our family. Generational wealth is huge, and we want not only our kids but others to see that it is possible and be encouraged to do this for themselves.

What are some unique challenges you've faced as a black entrepreneur, and how have you overcome them?
The challenge we have faced is the expectation around being a Black-owned restaurant. We want our guests to leave having a great experience and then, to top it off, know it is Black-owned

BLK RVA is all about supporting the thriving Black businesses and culture in the Richmond region and encouraging others to do the same. Can you share a few of your favorite local, Black-owned businesses?
Pig & Brew
Mama Js
Ms. Girlee's Kitchen
Soul & Vinegar

When we say the name BLK RVA, what does that mean to you?

BLK RVA means community and support
